Urgent Bush Carpentry Restoration on a Historic Timber Shed

Every now and then, a job comes along that we just can’t say no to — and this was one of them.

A few hours from home, deep in the Southern Tablelands, we were called in to carry out urgent repairs on an old timber shearing shed. Word of mouth led us here — and I’ve got to say, I never pass up a chance to get out into the bush. I love it.

The shed’s flooring had started to fail badly, with broken and rotted boards creating a real danger for the sheep — gaps big enough to trap hooves and potentially break legs. We got to work replacing the damaged sections, re-nailing what could be salvaged, and re-stumping areas that had dropped over time. A bit of bush carpentry at its finest.

And check out that roof framing — built from trees felled right off the property, just like it’s been done for generations. Good, honest Australian timber and a shed full of history. (And yes, that’s our little mate Frank the possum keeping an eye on things.)
